Man in The Mirror

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely just as God now knows me completely.    – 1 Corinthians 13:12

I have to see this guy every day. He at times is very annoying to me. Just seems like a failure. He doesn’t seem to be a good husband; short with his kids. Forgetful. Lacks common sense.

Yup, there he is….every time I look in the mirror.

And then I need to speak to him.

I have to speak some truths that he must be reminded every day.

See, if I don’t than he will take on those other things as his identity as he enters the day. And that identity will dictate behavior, attitudes, words and actions. That identity will keep him from working through hard things, quit and whine. That identity, as misconstrued as it is, will be affirmed throughout the day. And that identity will have an effect on his wife, children and those he comes in contact with.

But that man doesn’t see himself clearly. He only sees as the flesh dictates. But this man is under no condemnation. He is forgiven and cleansed of all unrighteousness. He (Jesus/Holy Spirit) within this man is greater than the one he sees in the mirror. He is accepted. He is loved unconditionally. He is empowered, strengthened and emboldened. This man can do all things through Christ who strengthens him. This man is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus who lives him. This man can be blessing to his wife, children and those he comes in contact with. For this man isn’t the man he sees in the mirror.

No, this man is the one seen from the other side of that mirror. He is seen thru a blood stained mirror that makes it crystal clear. He is righteous and clean. Spotless. Fully approved.

This man is under grace. Amazing grace that allows him, in spite of the man he sees in the mirror, to walk freely and peacefully. Enabled to live a God sharing life, fulfilled, and pouring that grace onto others….and his wife and children.

When you walk out the door today first look at yourself through the blood stained side of the mirror.

God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. – 2 Corinthians 5:21
